Message: Nice to see pictures of Linda Henry, who I knew 15 years ago - now living in central Indiana. We haven't been up to Sleeping Bear or Tawas Bay (another beautiful Mich place) since 2009 - like many, entered into a more constrained life in last year. Good to read abt Leelanau Peninsula people, including Stephanie Mills (but not on this website), who I had the pleasure of meeting some years ago.

Message: I loved the beaches of the island and the lighthouse. I would love more information e.g., boating to the island from the main land; distance. Is the island abandoned or are there places to stay overnight. I am looking for a place to visit on our weekend boating trip. Very interesting island.
Message: Great website! Very informative! I never knew about FILA until doing a little research on google earth about the islands. I'm a pilot and I have flown over South Fox Island numerous times on my vacations up north. Please let me know If I could ever be of assistance with volunteer work or aerial work?
Message: I am so happy to see all of the progress you have made in restoring and preserving this wonderful part of Michigan's maritime history. We used to take the mail boat out to North and South Manitou Islands. Is there a boat trip still available to North or South Manitou Islands ? Thank all of the people for the priceless work they are doing! To the guy who thought your work had gone to far! Without your preservation there wouldn't be any thing left there but rubble if it was left to go the way it was!! Again. I thank you
Message: hi,was wondering if there is a book or a place to read the history of the whole island. The wooden stairway in the pictures is beautiful even after all these years.Maybe when the keepers quarters are fixed up you can have people pay to be volunteer keepers like at other lighthouses
