Using wind power to operate the water would be wise.A tank in the building could hold water for further use.

I commend you for your enthusiasm for this project. My grandfather was keeper at Brush Point on the upper St. Mary's River. Unfortunately Brush Point is long gone.

I am glad to know there is an organized group working to preserve this site. I visted their in 1999 with my Uncle. I have lots of pictures which I would be happy to provide to you. Some of my pictures are posted on Terry Peppers site.

I am very interested in getting involved.

We are so excited to see your web page and that the plans for the light are going apace. We are firends of Cathy Allchin and were members of FIEA. Although we live downstate we would love to help restore the lighthouse. Richard is very familiar with the island and visited the light station with the FIEA inspection trip. At that time the keepers quarters looked like they could be made livable for volunteers working on the light. The plumbing looked lilke it was largely intact, and there is a well that may still be usable. The Coast Guard may not have plugged it when they abandoned the facility. The instalation of a new pump might make it possible to have water in the keepers quarters.

We are looking forward to joining your group when you start taking memberships.

I also think that a group should be formed to take tourists around all the historic lighthouses around the county

I think that you need a joint effort with the Grand Traverse Light Musuem and get some Ideas from them

Reply: Thank you. That's already happening. We are closely cooperating with the GT Lighthouse Museum.
